Recipe: 15 Minute, No Clean-up Oatmeal

If you already follow @nativoskincare on Instagram and watch my IG Stories by now you know that this has been my go to breakfast for every single day this winter. During warmer weather, I usually make my homemade stovetop granola in big batches and have that for breakfast regularly. But during the winter it is so just so warm and comfy to cuddle up with this oatmeal bowl to plan the day ahead.

The best part is that it only takes 15 minutes to make so you can pretty much disconnect from it while it is cooking and you don't have to clean any pots or pans afterwards! This gives you extra time in the mornings, which is always welcomed, to apply your morning skincare routine or do a quick tidy around the house.

A fulfilling breakfast is the best start to any day, go ahead and try this recipe out! Make it your own with your favorite toppings like fruits, nuts and /or seeds. If you do, don’t forget to tag us @nativoskincare and #nativoskin so I can see your delicious recreations and share it in our IG Stories!

RECIPE

15 Minute Easy Oatmeal

Makes 1 serving

1/2 cup old-fashioned rolled oats (not instant or quick-cooking)
1 cup of boiling water
Dash of cinnamon
A heat-safe cereal or soup bowl
A heat-safe plate that fits tightly on top of the opening of the bowl to use as a lid

Optional Toppings (to taste):
Milk or plant mylk
Agave syrup, maple syrup, or honey
Fresh or dried fruits: banana, apple, raisins, dates, cranberries, etc.
Chopped nuts and seeds: chia, hemp, flax, pumpkin, sunflower seeds, almonds, walnuts, etc.
Superfood powders: maca, cacao powder, camu camu, etc.
Dash of vanilla extract

Place the oatmeal, dash of cinnamon and the boiling water inside the bowl. Quickly cover the bowl with the plate as a lid making sure that no vapor can escape from the bowl.

Set your timer to 15 minutes and wait. I use this time to quickly make my bed and store away the clean dishes from the drying rack.

Once the 15 minutes have passed, carefully remove the plate from the top of the bowl. You’ll see a very unappealing watery oatmeal, don’t to worry! Just grab a spoon and stir until the consistency becomes thicker, i.e. regular oatmeal consistency. About a minute or two.

Voila! You just made a quick, easy, no extra cleanup oatmeal! You can eat as is right out from the bowl… very plain but works... or go ahead and add the toppings of your choice. Serve and enjoy!
