Our Essential Oils
At NATIVO we pride ourselves in exclusively sourcing certified organic essential oils for our formulations. This means that our essential oils are free of genetic engineering, irradiation, synthetic pesticides, chemical fertilizers, and dyes, and are not processed using industrial solvents.
The process in which essential oils are extracted play a significant part in assuring their pureness and quality. In non-organic essential oils, the potential chemicals used in growing the plants can attach themselves onto the final product regardless of the oil extraction method. CO2 extraction with non-organic plants for example, has been demonstrated to have concentrations anywhere between 7 to 53 times more pesticide residues in their final extracts as compared to other methods using that same plant.1 With the solvent extraction method, toxic chemical solvents can be possibly used resulting in harmful solvent residues leftover in the oil.
All of our essential oils are extracted from certified organic plants and solely using non-toxic extraction methods, such as distillation, cold pressing, CO2 extraction, and/or organic ethyl alcohol (organic drinking alcohol as a solvent extraction for absolutes).
"PROPRIETARY BLEND OF CERTIFIED ORGANIC ESSENTIAL OILS."
This phrase is a staple in natural and organic skincare and it can create a lot of confusion and mistrust, as it very well should if you are a conscious consumer.
We hope to help you understand our choice to continue using this phrase.
Our exclusive essential oil blends infuse our formulations with wondrous properties and help stimulate an immersive sensorial experience. If you have used our products, you'll understand first hand. Due to our carefully selected minimal main ingredients lists, we prefer our essential oil blends for each particular product to remain proprietary and thus use this phrase in our product labels. This helps protect us, as well as you, our customer from lower quality imitations / reproductions.
Having said that, we do believe in transparency and having an open community, and so have published our complete list of essential oils used in our formulations even if we are not disclosing the specific essential oils in each particular product.
In the end it all comes down to trust, and we hope to earn yours.
If you have any sensitivity to a particular essential oil and are not sure if a product you are interested in contains it, please contact us, we are happy to serve.
